Head's Welcome
On behalf of the pupils, staff and governors of Hangleton Junior School may I welcome you to our website. The school is situated in the suburb of Hangleton on the outskirts of the city of Brighton and Hove. It has been serving the local community for over 50 years. |
Our commitment to inclusion and raising standards for all pupils is an integral part of our school. Our aim is for all pupils to be able to achieve their full potential in all areas of school life.
We all work very hard to ensure the children achieve high standards especially in the key areas of Maths and English. However we also want our pupils to experience a broad and balanced curriculum. Hangleton Junior still provides three residential visit opportunities to enhance the curriculum alongside other educational visits. The school has a swimming pool which allows pupils to have a swimming lesson every week for half of the school year with a qualified instructor. Our children learn conversational French in Years 3, 4 and 5, and German in year 6. Each year the school performs a musical with standards on a par with those you may see in the West End of London! All of these things contribute to a rich and balanced educational experience.
As a school we are committed to a strong working partnership with parents and carers in order that each individual pupil should gain maximum benefit from their four years of education at Hangleton.
Every year we ask pupils, parents, governors, support staff and teaching staff to complete a survey. This gives us feedback on what we are doing well and what you feel we could do even better. These surveys are carefully analysed and the information is used in addition to statistical data to form our School Integrated Development Plan (SIDP). This allows us to create a culture of improvement and adapt to the needs of our community.
If you require more information about our school and its achievements please look at our School Profile by clicking on the following link and typing “Hangleton” in the schools search. http://schoolsfinder.direct.gov.uk/
Finally, I believe that it is our pupils that make us what we are and I am very proud of them all. I am sure that when visiting the school you will recognise the commitment and sense of purpose that our staff team and pupils possess. I do hope you enjoy the contents of this web site and if it does not provide you with enough information do not hesitate to contact our school office.
